England v USA - meaningless game

Published by gf1124 at 5:04 am under Soccer - Football Edit This

Waste of time

Tomorrow night England take on the USA in a friendly international. The game is totally meaningless for England and I am sure that all the players would rather be on holiday than playing in this game.

After the abysmal failure to qualify for the European Championships England’s players could have had a nice Summer break to repair their bodies and prepare for the season ahead. Instead, they are forced to take part in this nonsense.

Many players have withdrawn from the squad which is understandable and predictable. Unfortunately, it makes the game even more meaningless, if that is possible.

Most England players have played a fifty or more game season. They are in desperate need of a rest to recharge their batteries for next season’s club matches and the route to qualification for World Cup 2010. Just when they should be relaxing they have to play in this pointless match. The fact that the Peterborough goalkeeper, with all due respect to him, has been called into the squad, speaks volumes for the ‘importance’ of this match.

Will I watch the game? Of course I will, I’m a footballaholic. Will I moan about the game? You bet I will!
